Background

In 2000, Euronext pioneered the concept of the cross-border exchange by bringing together the stock exchanges of Paris, Amsterdam and Brussels.  These were later joined by acquisitions in London and Lisbon.  To bring the businesses together as one organisation, the company places great emphasis on effective communication to its employees.

Challenge

When the company’s annual and half-year results are announced, they are conveyed to employees in face-to-face briefings by their managers.  The presentations used by the managers need to be straightforward and informative – and they have to be produced within tight timescales, so that the news is still fresh.

What I Do

On the day that results are announced, I draw on the materials created for financial journalists to create simple presentations that managers can use to brief employees.  This sits alongside my ongoing work with Euronext: creating articles for the employee newsletter and communications on other people-related aspects.

When healthcare company Amersham decided to introduce a radically-different approach to setting salaries, I created the presentation and supporting materials that helped persuade employees to vote in favour of change.
